  • Aerospace and automotive — brake systems, fuel lines, accumulators
  • Oil & Gas — wellhead components, control systems
  • Industrial maintenance — safety and reliability checks
  • Ensures product safety and reliability
  • Detects leaks, material flaws, or seal failures
  • Reduces field failures and warranty claims
  • Allows performance validation under simulated real conditions
  • Supports R&D and quality control

Main Components

  • Common Parts:

    1. Test Chamber / Enclosure – safe area where the component is tested.
    2. Pump Unit – generates hydraulic or pneumatic pressure.
    3. Pressure Control Valves – regulate pressure to desired levels.
    4. Pressure Gauges / Transducers – measure and display applied pressure.
    5. Safety Relief Valve – prevents over-pressurization.
    6. Data Acquisition System – records pressure, time, and test results.
    7. Fixture / Clamping System – securely holds the test component.
    8. Control Panel (Manual or PLC) – allows the operator to control and monitor tests.
    9. Reservoir / Compressor – stores test medium (fluid or air).

    Working Principle

    Hydraulic Test (Liquid Pressure Test):

    1. The component is filled with water or oil and sealed.
    2. A hydraulic pump increases pressure to the test level (often 1.5× the working pressure).
    3. The system is held under pressure for a specified duration.
    4. Leakage, deformation, or failure is checked visually or via sensors.

Used for valves, hoses, pipes, cylinders, and pressure vessels.

Defination

A Pressure Test Bench is a modular, self-contained test system that uses fluid or gas under controlled pressure to verify that a product or system can safely withstand operating and proof pressures without leakage or failure.

When:

  • Hydraulic test → uses oil or water as the pressure medium.
  • Pneumatic test → uses compressed air or inert gas (like nitrogen).

Pneumatic Test (Air/Gas Pressure Test)

  • The component is filled with compressed air or inert gas (like nitrogen).
  • Pressure is gradually increased to the test level.
  • Leak detection is performed using soap solution, ultrasonic detectors, or pressure drop monitoring.
